Professor Jim Codde obtained his Doctorate from The University of Western Australia through the Department of Medicine at Royal Perth Hospital. His medical research interest spanned dietary lipid modulation of experimental hypertension and seeking to improve the effectiveness of cancer treatments through a number of modalities in animal models. Upon joining Western Australian Health Department in the late 1980’s, his interests expanded into public health and health service research reflecting his roles as Director of the Epidemiology Branch and Director Clinical Planning in the South Metropolitan Health Service.

Professor Codde has contributed to over 80 journal publications and 50 reports. He has successfully supervised eight higher degree by research students (PhD, Masters) to completion and currently supervising a further eight. He was a Board Director for the Fremantle Medicare Local for a decade, held adjunct professorial positions at UWA and Curtin University and is currently an Honorary Research Fellow at the Telethon Kids Institute. He is also Scientific Director for the Health Program of the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information.
