The Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) is a $20 billion vehicle for investment in health and medical research. MRFF was established as an endowment fund to be preserved in perpetuity, to provide a secure revenue stream for health and medical research and innovation.
MRFF works through the strategic investment of funds to transform health and medical research and innovation which will improve lives, build the economy and contribute to health system sustainability.
The areas of focus for MRFF are:
WAHTN receives MRFF funding through the Rapid Applied Research Translation stream as an accredited Advance Health Research and Translation Centre. This is a $10 million Federal government investment with the goals of:
- Improving patient experiences by improving care pathways and service connections
- Reduce unwarranted variation in healthcare and patient outcomes
- Improve the health of certain at risk groups in Australia, such as Indigenous Australians
