Northern Australia Tropical Disease Collaborative Research Programme is now open for applications

The Northern Australia Tropical Disease Collaborative Research Programme (the Programme) is now open for applications.

The Programme will support innovative high quality teams to undertake research into the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of tropical disease that translate research findings into outcomes for health in Australia and the region.  The Programme will build strong collaborations, new research capability and capacity in the health and medical research workforce, and promote effective translation of this research into health policy and practice.

Further details and funding documentation for this initiative is available on the NHMRC website.

The NHMRC has established a separate arrangement with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) for a combined application and assessment process that will enable applicants to apply for separate funding (up to $2 million over 2 years) from DFAT under their Tropical Disease Research Regional Collaboration Initiative (TDRRCI) – http://dfat.gov.au/about-us/grants-tenders-funding/tenders/business-notifications/Pages/business-notifications.aspx

This arrangement reflects the complementary nature of the two initiatives, and facilitates applicants applying for funding from both agencies.  Applicants can chose whether to apply for funding only from DFAT or NHMRC, or both.
